The EPFL campus is easily accessible thanks to a dense urban public transport network and its proximity to major rail connections.
By airplane
The nearest airport is Geneva Airport (GVA), with a direct train connection to Lausanne taking approximately 50 minutes. Zurich Airport (ZRH) is also well connected, with a travel time of around 2.5 hours by train. Up-to-date train schedules can be found on the SBB website.
By public transport
From Lausanne City Centre:
- Bus 1 — From Lausanne Gare (main train station), direct route towards EPFL/Colladon, alight at the terminus (approx. 25 minutes). Operates Monday to Friday, 6:00 to 18:40.
- Metro — From Lausanne-Flon, take M1 towards Renens-Gare and alight at EPFL.
Lausanne-Flon can be reached from Lausanne Gare via metro M2, direction Croisettes (1 stop).
From Renens train station:
- Metro M1 towards Lausanne-Flon, alight at EPFL (approx. 6 minutes).
From Morges train station:
- Bus MBC 701 towards Lausanne Bourdonnette, alight at Parc Scientifique (approx. 15–20 minutes).
