Description

In recent years, remarkable progress has been made in recasting hydrodynamics as a modern effective field theory (EFT), encompassing both quantum and statistical effects. This has required, in turn, advances in our understanding of the Schwinger-Keldysh formalism, which is necessary to study out-of-equilibrium systems. The goal of this workshop is to bring together leading experts to arrive at a synthesis of these recent results and reconcile different approaches in a unique framework.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Emergent symmetries in hydrodynamic EFTs

  • Systematics of Schwinger-Keldysh EFTs

  • Universal aspects of correlated transport of energy-momentum and internal (possibly non-abelian) charges

  • Applications to QCD at finite temperature

Travel and Hotel Information

The nearest international airport is in Geneva, where one may take the train directly to Lausanne. Depending on point of departure, Zurich airport may also be a good option.

The hotel is Alpha-Palmiers, and is located just north of Lausanne Gare (station):

To reach EPFL, take the M1 metro line from Lausanne-Flon to UNIL-Sorge (8 stops). The Bernoulli Center is then a 5 minute walk:
